The portal is on the platform with the banker. The SFTA is located in the Lion’s Arch Aerodrome. You have to adjust in a realistic scenario, but that’s easier when you know your rotation by rote and can break it down into smaller parts. Hopefully, now you understand why the order you use your skills in is important. When you toss in boss mechanics, you throw off the perfect circumstances, meaning your DPS on a boss will almost always be lower than on the golem. A benchmark is the average and/or top DPS you can expect in an optimal environment. Rotations for DPS builds have benchmarks. There are a few reasons to do this: to take advantage of certain traits and interactions to eliminate the usage of skills that don’t benefit your DPS or boon output or to line up skill cooldowns, resulting in smoother, more intuitive play. Rotations & BenchmarksĪ rotation simply means using your skills in a specific order.
#DPS BENCHMARK MEANING HOW TO#
This guide will show you how to set up the training golem to practice your skill rotation and help you zero in on areas where you can improve. To practice your chosen build, you’ll use the Special Forces Training Area (SFTA), an instance where you can lay the smackdown on a friendly kitty golem who’s willing to take a hit in your pursuit of skills.

The good news is that endgame content is accessible to everyone in the game as long as you have a little curiosity, some time, and a lot of determination. How do you find a training group? How do you know when you’re pulling your weight? What are some indicators that you’re improving? But you’ve wandered into the Lion’s Arch Aerodrome, the Eye of the North, or Arborstone and you’re overwhelmed. Especially when compared to say my lich build with soul plague hitting for on average 4500 a total of 21 times in 10 seconds with a dps of 9450 that spreads to everything on screen and hits everything for the same 9.5k dps to everything, damage going up exponentially with the amount of mobs on screen. You’re looking into endgame content in Guild Wars 2 and you’ve taken the first step: choosing a build to play. Now, this is with very very good gear but the main 2 things of the build, skeletons and deathknights only do roughly 12k dps and only if they are attacking the same target, this seems extremely low. I am able to now see this as they do roughly 935 dps each for a total of 4675 total dps (again discounting crits). Now if I also look at my 5 deathknights who also do around the same damage of 550 with 17 hits in 10 seconds but at a much higher crit rate which at the moment i will ignore. Discounting the crits at the moment my skele rogues do 750ish dps each multiplied by my amount of rogues, on the low end of 10 my rogues do 7.5k dps roughly. I am then able to multiply that by 10 - 12 rogues depending on what items I am using. with this I am able to see my skeleton rogue has hits on average 12-13 times for an average hit of 550 with a crit of 1500 every 5ish swings. You can somewhat compare damage on the training dummy as well just by looking at the amount of damage over a specific time, say 10 seconds. This is more of the answer I am looking for.
